Get To Know Me

My Story
I grew up in a small town in Indiana. My parents gave my brother and me the best childhood by exposing us to travel and adventure at such young ages. We spent a big chunk of our summers on the lake – tubing, fishing, boating, wakeboarding, you name it. We took outdoorsy trips to places like Canada, Arizona, West Virginia, and Florida where we whitewater-rafted, canoed, hiked, and off-roaded.
As a kid, I definitely didn’t like getting out of my comfort zone. A pretty scarring canoe camping trip that I took with some of my friends in 2008 exacerbated that. I was pretty sure that I would never set foot on a river, at a campsite, or in a canoe again. But boy, was I wrong.
Fast forward to today. I am a full-time freelance writer and travel blogger. I spend every waking moment outdoors – climbing mountains, hiking through forests, splashing under waterfalls, paddling down rivers, and living life miles beyond my comfort zone. Exactly the opposite of what my 14-year-old self thought I’d be doing. And I couldn’t be happier.
